Owner, Founder, and Designer Cody White

My name is Cody White and I am the owner and founder of Great White Woodworks. After a long playing career and countless personal contacts made, I have developed an advanced understanding of the game of baseball and a particular sense for hitters' preferences when it comes to equipment. I played baseball for three years at the junior college and the DII level. I graduated from Sacramento State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and from the University of Oregon in 2018 with an MBA in Sports Marketing.

I personally handcraft every Great White Woodworks bat from start to finish. My 15+ years of woodturning experience has given me a keen eye for detail, which I rely on to make every single bat.

I have leveraged my personal and my professional network to spread the word about Great White Woodworks throughout the Sacramento Area, the CA Central Valley, and different regions throughout the United States.

I do this because I love it. It is practically impossible to find the words to describe why, but there is something magical about creating something entirely in your mind and then using your own two hands to make it real. I have always loved building things - particularly with wood - but there is something about wood baseball bats that gets me going. The sounds, the smells, and the feel of the bat in each stage - they are all integral parts of it. Making products that have utility is without question included, as are my love for baseball and for general creativity.

Any Model, Any Size, Any Wood

When I founded Great White Woodworks in 2022, I wanted to grant customers the freedom to choose their own turn model, wood type, size, color(s), and anything else available when purchasing a wood bat. Most companies in today's game and industry have a set lineup of turn models that customers must choose from. Some companies do offer the option to have a specific turn model model made outside of their normal product line, but very few actually let customers design their own fully customized turn model. My customers have a say in every aspect of the bat - barrel length & diameter, handle thickness, knob type and shape, cup depth, and much more. My made-to-order business model provides full transparency from start to finish.

When I began swinging wood bats more regularly in college, I noticed that most of the guys I talked to had unique preferences. Different barrel shapes, handle thicknesses, weights and lengths, and especially wood types. Yellow Birch was still fairly new to the game back then, but I distinctly remember some players having a preference for it over other wood types. Over the years, I kept this in mind - even after stepping away from baseball for 10 years. So when I finally had the chance to get Great White Woodworks off the ground, I created the motto "Any Model, Any Size, Any Wood" to explain what I offer.
